It all began with a post card campaign initiated by two orders of Franciscan Sisters in January 2010. QuikTrip, in partnership with Allied Waste, has established a pilot program for recycling in the St. Louis Metro area.  Through the encouragement of the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and the Franciscan Sisters of Mary, QuikTrip, which owns and operates 63 locations in the St. Louis area, estimates the company will be able to recycle about 90 percent of all trash from its stores.  QuikTrip has set up single-stream recycling in almost all of its area stores and has

switched to more environmentally friendly product packaging.

On November 30, 2010, 75 people gathered to be inspired to create their own green holiday.  St. Louis' leading environmentalist, Jean Ponzi, gave a great keynote presentation.
